This will block a media outlet or journalist from receiving your media updates. This can be handy if you’re distributing releases to lists managed by Fuseworks, but want to exclude certain contacts, or where you’ve been asked to unsubscribe a recipient.

Step 1 – Enter the name of the media outlet or journalist into the search box and click the blue button to run the search.

  • You can also search by email. For example: contact:wellington.newsroom@thomsonreuters.com (lots of journalists have multiple addresses, ie: @dompost.co.nz / @fairfaxmedia.co.nz / @stuff.co.nz – so you may need to try a few possible variations).

Step 2 – The default is to search for news, so you’ll need to change this to profiles by clicking ‘Profiles’ under the search box.

Step 3 – Click on the name to open the full profile.

Step 4 – Click ‘Manage lists’ at the top of the overlay.

Step 5 – Click ‘Block this contact’ at the bottom of the list.

  • Tips
  • Any blocked contacts will be visible in distribution lists, and tagged with ‘Blocked’.
  • To unblock a contact, just open their Profile and click ‘Unblock contact’ under ‘Manage lists’.
  • There’s also an ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of all media updates sent via Fuseworks, so contacts can opt-out themselves.
  • If you block/unblock a contact, or someone unsubscribes from your updates, the details will be shown to in the ‘Latest Activity’ section of the Dashboard and ‘Distribution lists’ page.
